Lyra Coaching, Therapy and Work Life Services
Lyra Health provides care for your emotional and mental well-being—how, when, and where you need it with a provider you choose tailored to your specific needs.
With research-backed treatment methods, quality providers and digital resources, U.S. based teammates and eligible dependents will benefit from Lyra’s confidential services and support such as:
- Up to eight (8) free coaching or therapy sessions per person per year*.
- Access to Lyra’s expansive network of 8,800+ diverse providers.
- Personalized plans for self-care developed alongside a mental health expert who understand your needs.
- On-demand resources for meditating, improving sleep, easing stress and more.
- Access to coaches via live messaging through a mobile device or computer, with options to meet “face-to-face” with live video.
In addition to the above, work life services beyond mental health are available that includes access to free 30-minute consultations for legal and financial services, 60-minute identity theft services, and child, elder and pet care consultations, resources and referrals.
*Teammates and their eligible dependents enrolled in one of our Brown & Brown UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Choice Plus medical plans can continue care beyond the eight (8) free sessions with a Lyra network provider and access medication management. Additional sessions are billed through the medical plan and are subject to network cost-sharing, as defined in the Summary Plan Description. If you are not covered by a UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Choice Plus medical plan, the Care Navigator Team (CNT) may further assist with finding continued care.

The Brown & Brown Health Concierge is an Enhanced Advocacy Service and is free to teammates and covered dependents enrolled in one of the UHC Choice Plus medical plans.
The Health Concierge is a single point of contact giving a clear way to get the help and support needed to make more confident decisions when using your medical plan and receiving health care services.

Crisis Support - Abuse, Addiction, Suicide Prevention, and More
Abuse: Abuse is a pattern of behavior used to gain and maintain power and control, and it can come in many forms. Explore the centers below to learn a few of the common ways abuse can occur so you can better identify them. Even one or two of these in any relationship is a red flag that abuse may be present. Remember, each type of abuse is serious and no one deserves to experience any form of it. For more information on abuse visit here.
Addiction: Addiction occurs when you develop a physical or psychological “need” for a substance. You are unable to control your use of a drug despite the negative impact it has on your life. You may not be aware that you have become dependent on a drug until you try to stop taking it. Drug withdrawal can cause uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous symptoms. Suicide Prevention: Learn what to watch for, how to listen and how to talk to someone who may be at risk of attempting suicide. If you or someone you love is struggling or in a crisis and may be at risk, there is hope — call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org to be connected to the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. For the deaf and hard of hearing, contact the Lifeline via your personal preferred TTY relay service or dial 711 then 988. If this is an emergency or you think you may harm yourself, please call 911.

2nd.MD & 2nd.MD Required Consultations
NEW 2nd.MD
Brown & Brown teammates and their covered family members enrolled in a Brown & Brown UHC medical plan have access to 2nd.MD, a virtual expert medical consultation and navigation service. With 2nd.MD you can connect with board-certified, elite specialists about your diagnosis or treatment plan all within a matter of days at no cost to you! Get expert advice when you or an eligible family member has questions about a new or existing diagnosis, treatment plan, possible surgery, your medications, or a chronic condition.
Beginning January 1, 2023 and to encourage the best approach and quality of care, it will be required that you or a covered dependent consult with 2nd.MD by phone at least 30 days prior to a scheduled spine, hip or knee surgery. If you do not take this step, a $750 surcharge will be assessed to the surgery claim. This amount will not apply toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. (This surcharge will not apply to emergency surgery or to surgeries that are already scheduled to take place prior to April 1, 2023.)
It is important to keep in mind that it is always your choice whether or not to follow the guidance of the 2nd.MD specialist. This requirement is intended to make sure you and your loved ones are equipped with expert information about treatment, diagnosis and surgical recovery.

Omada Overview
Omada is an online behavioral counseling program designed to help at-risk individuals combat obesity-related chronic disease. Participants in the Omada program learn how to make modest health changes that could lead to weight loss and reduced risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease. How do I apply?
Individuals interested in the Omada program can visit omadahealth.com/bbins to take a 1-minute health screener and find out if they meet the clinical enrollment criteria to participate in the program. The risk screener asks a few questions about height, weight, and health conditions. Those who are eligible to enroll will receive an email invitation to join the Omada program.

Blue Cross Online VisitsSM
You and your dependents age 18 and older can access private and confidential behavioral healthcare through Blue Cross Online Visits. Licensed therapists and U.S. board-certified psychiatrists who provide support for grief, anxiety, depression and more through the convenience of virtual visits. Services are subject to BCBSM behavioral health care out-of-pocket costs—and you will see your cost before you start your visit.
If you are interested in therapy sessions – you may choose from psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists or licensed profession counselors. Visits last 45 minutes, and you can schedule a visit between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., including weekends.
If you are interested in psychiatry sessions – visits are available by appointment. Your initial visit lasts 45 minutes and follow-up appointments are 15 minutes. Prescriptions, if necessary, are sent to your preferred pharmacy

If you are looking for support, you are not alone. Millions of people seek mental health services every year. Kaiser Permanente offers many options for members with mental, emotional, and addiction issues — as your partners in health, they help you find what works for you.

Therapists and Psychiatrists - HMSA Plans
Beyond therapy and psychiatry appointments, you may be eligible to participate in the Beacon Health Options program through HMSA.
If you have a behavioral health condition, barriers to seeking therapy can get in the way of feeling better. Your HMSA plan may be able to help with conditions like depression, anxiety, alcohol and substance use, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, and more.
How The Program Works:
HMSA partnered with Beacon Health Options® to offer eligible members services such as:
- Help choosing a behavioral health provider.
- Referrals to behavioral health resources and services.
- Condition-specific education for members and support resources for their loved ones.
- Case management for those who need it.
